Oh man, just under a month to go until the big day - it's come too fast!! The final dash is always the worst but I've been picking up little prizes here and there and made my shopping list for nearer the time. We're still looking for volunteers, so if people are interested then PLEASE email me; you MUST be available on the 28th June for the meeting/interview and then again the following Friday for set-up.
I was sorry to hear that Liam had to back out of his performance on the Sunday; he had informed me there were some ongoing issues in his life and had planned to squeeze us in, unfortunately things had gotten worse and we wish him the best of luck.
On a brighter note, a booklet is being made (not by me for a change!) for the big day; I've had a look at the cover and been informed of the content - it's gonna be fab!
We're also working on a online magazine on the side; we're starting with some reviews of old favourites of ours and including some new ones, art work and hopefully some other things. just to get us off the ground - I'm hoping it will be ready by the con for release.
Lastly, the timetable will be released fully in the booklet, but I will post another update nearer the time.

I'm going to start with the awesome news that I now have grant money! I was worried my application would be rejected but the folks at Sasakawa Foundation were very excepting of my predicament - with this being the first convention and that I couldn't officially give attendee numbers - I'm very pleased with this and will be making travel arrangements for guests ASAP.
Next, the last couple of volunteer meetings have been mostly about the weekend timetable; it's still not up to scratch but I'm happy with where most events are and that Sunday is looking more relaxed, casual and geeky, compared to Saturday, which is more culture based. We're having two types of Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments, sealed play for Saurday (only 20 places, so first come, first serve) and Sunday's larger tournament with Pre-Reg the day before; this is all over looked by the judging staff of [email protected], who are legitimate judges.
There was also a mention of having an 18+ card room for Cards Against Humanity on Sunday; it's such a fun game but obviously not for chibis.
I've also received news that another raffle prize is on its way back from a lovely person in California - I'm not saying who, but they have been really awesome about the whole thing.

We have under two months to go before the big day and most things seem to be on track!
Full weekend passes are now online at www.deanclough.com; just click 'book online' on any event on the main page and it will bring you to their ticket master calendar.
Stalls are fully booked for now, but I may be able to take last minute applications if I find I have room left. I will put up a notice on facebook pages if this is the case.
We're still in need of volunteers. Our next meeting is this Saturday (17th) and Dean Clough; come down and join the fun - volunteers get free entry to the con of course :)
Keep an eye out for tickets at Halifax's local collectors store - and our sponcers, [email protected]. They'll be available from Saturday and limited!

Why did no one tell me the date was wrong on the last update?! Haha!
Anyway, tickets are officially online now and bookable via the tickets tab; however, the weekend pass seems to be missing so I've sent off an email already - until this is fixed, please call the box office for the weekend pass!
Fast sushi (previously the bento event) are still looking for people to join in; the price does seem a little off putting, but if you attend the sushi course you gain free entry into the con! Dump a parent or two, a grandparent, maybe that uncle you don't want to be seen with there and they can join you later after some sushi fun!
In the last half hour I have officially booked three members of M.O.E! I missed the performance at HuddsCon but I thought they'd be a great addition to ours too as we're looking to bring in some Japanese culture to the event. They're also running a panel about maid cafés so be sure to catch that!
I've also spoken to Lawrence 'MasakoX' Simpson, he's delighted to be joining us for the weekend; I had briefly mentioned the con to xthedarkone too, but another con he's attending has clashed with ours! Oh dear, maybe next year!
The Yorkshire Standard has contacted me! They're an online paper and they want to cover the event; we're very happy to have them come along and join in on the fun!
Don't forget, volunteers meeting on Monday!

Tickets are finally ready and they will have our lovely logo on it! They're not currently online yet, so just phone the box office on 01422 255266, with a massive influx of phone calls they should make it available online pretty quick! Of course, if there's any problems let me know and I'll talk to them.
We've also got our volunteers meeting booked into place for the 21st (a week on Monday); so those willing to be my gofers, this is a good time to come see what is currently planned, make suggestions and have a tour of the gallery to see the spaces.
We're also set to send a few prizes off to be signed, and once they've come back I can make a reveal or two. We're also accepting prize donations from other sources; I know I'll be looking through my DVD collection and donating ones I didn't like or just have no intention watching again, so any others and any Manga (as long as it's in good condition) are GOLD!
I look forward to seeing people on the 21st!

So, with Le Tour coming to Yorkshire it was to be expected that there would be road closures and travel disruptions; what I wasn't expecting was the closure of Junction 24 between Leeds and Huddersfield.
If you are travelling by car, please keep up to date about closures at the Le Tour website as this does effect most of Yorkshire; I will also be checking this frequently for my own travel to and from the Con and will update as much as I can.
The cooking school has offered twenty places for their 'Build a Bento' course, this is set at £39pp and runs from 12 until 3; this is a lot of money and I realise it, so if interest is high I'm offering to pay for half of it per person! Even though it's a huge chunk of the day, it's a great opportunity and I've never seen it at a convention before - please do register your interest with us so I can get back to the cooking school ASAP.
There is still plenty of room for stalls, the hall is HUGE and I want to fill it!
Tickets are NOT available as of yet, the gentleman (the only one who knows how to work the ticket system) was away; I have been informed that he will be prodded upon return until the job gets done.

Middle of February already, where does the time go?
I had a brief chat with the cooking school, located in Dean Clough, and they sound happy (but slightly confused) to do a session on making your own Bento Box meal; the suggestion was twenty people for the session possibly twice a day if there is enough interest - so PLEASE get in touch if you think you'd like to try it and we can organize a price.
Dean Clough has been wonderful once more and has agreed to do our ticket printing! They will be available through the post or to pick up on the day; once this is set up, a link will be made ready on the website and facebook pages.
I've added the stalls application form to both the Stall and Artists tabs; it's nice and quick and mostly for my documentation. On the bottom of the Events tab is the rules for contests.
Also, I have been reminded that Le Tour is coming through Yorkshire on the 5th - specifically through Huddersfield; please be aware that if you're coming to Halifax via Ainley Top it may either be closed or very busy. I am attending a function March 8th about this and can provide more details afterwards.
Lastly, despite the function beforehand, myself, Nikku and Lillilotus will be attending Hudds Con at the Huddersfield Uni; don't be afraid to talk to us about HAMCon, or just to have a general chat, we don't bite.
...Ok, Nikku MAY bite.

As you may have seen from our update video, Dragon Ball Z live action masters, K&K Productions are our first guest for our first con! We are delighted to have them and look forward to their talk about their projects.
Our second guest speaker is weapons prop maker Gilgamesh Arms. He'll be talking about his work and bringing his awesome stock along - don't forget to save up those pennies and buy!
We're also pleased to announce a charity raffle; all proceeds will be donated to Aid for Japan.
Tickets for the event are £10 for the Saturday/Sunday or £15 for the whole weekend. Visitors will be issued with an entry strap.
Our first event announcement is: 'Can you beat Nikku at Tekken Tag 2'. It's a one hour event - get practising!
We're still looking for artists! At £5 for a stall you can't go wrong!

We have partnered with Halifax Festival and Dean Clough gallery to put together Halifax's first Anime and Manga Con!
Halifax Festival is an annual event with lots creative shows happening between the end of June and the beginning of July; we are honoured to be part of this amazing event.
Dean Clough, located five minutes from the town centre, is a massive mill converted into a gallery; there are small meeting rooms for private events, a café and hotel on site, a theatre that holds roughly three hundred people, and - best of all - it has been home to our small Manga club for two years! With permission to have free run of the place, we aim to make this one of the best Cons in the region!!
As this is an early announcement, we have much planning to do and help from regular Con-goers is always grateful. Please do not hesitate to contact us through our various media links with guest or event ideas.
Now, time to budget!
